Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Dr. Seuss's Birthday was this week! In honor of this wonderful man and the exciting adventures) he took all of us on, my neighbor (Spencer), my roommate (Emily), and I wrote a beautiful story for this amazing occasion:

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
This wish is from us to you..se!
Babies are young,
Old people are old,
You're really ancient,
or so we've been told.
From green eggs and ham
to the man named sam
I am eating spam
which is kind of like ham.
Spam is disguisting, in all sorts of ways
I wouldn't eat it, not even at plays!

What kind of present would you like today?
You're 105, hip-hip-hooray!
Who to invite to this party for you?
Star-belly sneetches? Thing one and thing two?
Red fish? Green fish? The cat in the hat?
We'll invite them, what d'you think about that?
Presents, icecream, and even some cake.
Come to the party for Heaven's sake!

Speaking of heaven, you're dead aren't you?
Now all the guests, they have to shoo.
Presents, icecream it's all a waste.
This birthday cake we'll never taste.
You're gone Dr. Seuss. It makes us sad.
Hey....this cake isn't too bad!

Come back all you sneetches, you things 1 and 2,
come back, try this cake...please don't shoo!
This party isn't done,
it'll be lots of fun.
Rhyming and climbing and playing our kazoos
Stay and play, there's lots to do...se.

We miss you Dr. Seuss
You and that hat
The hat with the stripes,
the hat on the cat.

We miss the good ol' days
of silly little books.
We miss all your characters
and their striking good looks.

Although you are gone,
there's no reason to pout
Your memory lives on
No reason to doubt!
